The investment case
Hesitating to invest in your team's English? That hesitation has a price.
Budgets are real. So is the quiet cost of teams who understand the email — but freeze on the call. Here's what the data (and our classrooms) say about waiting versus investing.
-
01
The cost of not investing
~$26k / year
SIS International Research (Siemens-commissioned SMB study): estimated annual cost of communication barriers per knowledge worker.
Every delayed reply, every meeting that needs a "translator colleague," every pitch that never quite lands — it adds up. Communication friction doesn't show up as a line item. It shows up as slower deals, longer projects, and talent that can't fully represent your brand abroad.
-
02
What returns look like in the real world
1.4 hrs / week
CEMEX / Learnship: average time saved per learner each week from clearer English communication; ~40,000 work hours saved annually across their programme.
When people communicate with confidence, work moves. Meetings shrink. Emails need fewer rewrites. Cross-border teams stop looping the same point three times. That's not soft. That's recovered capacity — week after week.
-
03
Outcomes you can measure
96% / ≤80 hrs
BE School client outcomes: CEFR level targets achieved by 96% of clients in 80 hours or less.
Investment only feels vague when progress is vague. We track CEFR levels, attendance, and teacher feedback — so HR sees advancement, not just "classes happened." Personalized, job-relevant practice beats generic courses every time.

04
What "worth it" looks like for HR
Continuity + clarity
Dedicated teachers, monthly reports, and lessons built for real work scenarios — not textbook tourism.
ROI isn't only revenue. It's retention of people you've already hired, fewer escalations to bilingual managers, and employees who can sit in global meetings as ambassadors — not spectators. That's the case for investing: not hope. Proof, process, and practice.
Your team already does the hard work. Give them the language to own the room.
